So – your wedding is coming up, and you’re trying to think of all the things you need to do. It seems like there are endless things to worry about, but your day doesn’t have to be fixated on stress. Your day deserves to be easy and magical – you’ve put it together so well so far! I’m here to share my top 5 tips that will help prepare you for some of the most important things.
Creating a backbone to your day and sharing it with vendors, your wedding party, and your family will set everyone up for success on where they need to be and when. For my couples – I create a photography timeline along with gathering a family photo list so we can flow throughout your day flawlessly! No need to worry about Uncle Bill being 10 minutes late or thinking of who you need photos with on the fly.
If your budget allows, I HIGHLY recommend hiring a wedding coordinator! You spend so much time planning, picking colors, cake flavors, and all the things, having a coordinator will allow you to truly enjoy all of your hard work and celebration! Your coordinator will take care of the little details and will typically be the point of contact for your vendors and take care of things you need not worry about.
I know this is a weird one – but when you’re done with portraits you will not want to keep lugging your train around! Have a designated person to bustle you, this could be your MOH, mom, or anyone that will be present. When picking up your gown after your final alterations, have your seamstress give a tutorial to your gown bustler and have someone video record. It may be excessive, but you do not want to be trying to figure out how to bustle up right before your grand entrance!
I’m sure your heels are beautiful, but you may not want to be dancing the night away in them! Pack up a second pair of shoes that can keep you comfy and busting a move. Pro tip: make sure they have traction to them! I’ve seen brides slip on smooth dance floors!
Wedding days always fly by so quickly. You’re seeing so many important people in both of your lives in the span of a few hours, on top of wedding activities. It’s a day full of joy and celebration of you and the love of your life, schedule in some time for the two of you to step away and enjoy that newlywed feeling. Grab a glass of champagne and slip away to savor the memories that you’re making.
