More about Me

One of the biggest questions I am asked when someone schedules a shoot is, “Where is a good place for pictures?”. Although I have many places that are my go-to in mind, I have not been everywhere! A big factor that goes into play with any location is, from my aspect, the lighting. I am always trying to find big, well lit areas for the most natural light but also respected the background.

But, back to the main reason as to why I am writing this blog, is how you, as a client, can pick the best location that suits you and your needs best!

Choose a meaningful place

It’s easy to go to the closest park and take pictures, and this will look amazing portrayed in imagery, but this may not be entirely unique to you. Just imagine, if you’re showing up to a park you’ve never been to before to get photos taken that will be on display or kept for a lifetime, you want to have some kind of connection to it, right? You may not know what that specific park offers or doesn’t offer, or if it is not one that you personally like. You have the power to choose where you want your photos taken, why not take it? By choosing a location that is more personable to you, you are making your photos more about you! This is something you want to look back on and cherish, and by choosing a location that fits your style, personality, and all you, you are making your pictures more unique.

Choose somewhere quiet

Making sure that you are able to focus on your images, and nothing else, is important! Unless you want a busy background, choosing somewhere that is not popular is ideal so you are able to feel comfortable during your session.

Natural lighting

This is something I personally swear by! Nine times out of ten I am always taking photos outside. The lighting is most flattering when it is natural. It overall captures your true skin tone and keeping your skin looking soft. Which, bonus, when shooting in an outdoor location, I always recommend clients get photos done in the morning or afternoon. The lighting is best at this time, hence why it is dubbed the ‘golden hour’ by photographers!

Private location

Now, this is something that permission would be needed, but private property is absolutely perfect for photos! You get beautiful images that nobody else has. This will make your experience that much more unique and more about you! Plus, I LOVE exploring new places!

No matter what you choose for your location, as long as you are entirely happy with your choice is all that matters!

Now, that’s all the time I have for today!

Like always, thanks for reading, and until next time,

Catherine
